Book and Movie!
The Book Hunger Games : Catching Fire is totally different then the movie. I remember telling people to go check out the book before watching this show. Ender’s Game was far better than this movie although that is just my opinion! So I am going to break down the movie and let you know what I thought of the movie. In this Review of the Movie, I might give out a few spoilers so be forewarned about the possibility.
Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence)
So let’s start out with the main character. Katniss is a sullen and very unimaginative girl who grew up in district 12. She has no major goals other than to stay alive in the first movie and in this movie. She is not very like able to her current boyfriend and her hunger games boyfriend, which are two different people. She keeps both of them at arms length and to a point just plays with their heart claiming she loves only one of them when in fact, she loves both of them for two totally separate reasons. I was hoping that the character development would get better in the second movie. The First movie was better at the character development and you almost grew to like her. The writers decided she had to be unlike able, so which made the movie even worse for me. I almost wanted to walk out, but I decided it was best to see the full film.
Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson)
Peeta is the other not so main character of the movie, and yet he was in the previous one. You only saw him a few times in the beginning of this movie and then it slowly became constant but it was because he was going to volunteer for the Quarter Quell. This time it is only people who have won the previous games that will be picked. So he feels he has to be with Katniss, and she doesn’t know why and want him to be in the games. His character never really develops a lot in this movie and we see these two get closer than ever and yet you know she has a boyfriend.
Haymitch Abernathy (Woody Harrelson)
Woody used to play on Cheers, amazing little fact his name in the show! Haymitch is almost a like able in this movie and is the only one that I could relate to. All the other Characters just seemed to far fetched for my liking and understanding. He was finally going to try to be the hero of the movie by volunteering for the quarter quell games, but it was Peeta who volunteers. He grew on me in the movie because something in him changed, and that something had to be hope. He started to have hope and that was what President Snow didn’t want to happen. He started to be a real mentor for the champions and to help them out where ever he could. Those are three characters that are in my book the ones you will see in the movie and are pivital in everything they do in this movie. Nothing would of changed in my opinion if they had different characters for everyone else.
The Ending
I have so much to say about the ending of this movie and it really isn’t going to pretty. The movie and book are quite different at this point, I read both and really believe they were going to keep with the book version but they had other plans. Some of this was probably the violence and I could understand that. It however was a real disappointment for cliff hanger ending they ended with. That was rather rude of them and really made me mad. This movie needed more time on the ending and if they could of did a two parts of the movie that would of been better.
Save you Money for a movie rental and at best buying the movie for your enjoyment at home to be able to watch it as your want. It isn’t worth your time and money to go see it at theatre price. Your best just wait for the DVD of Catching Fire and in the meantime you should go read the book instead, which is far better than the Movie.
