Dell XPS phase-out symptomatic of declining PC gaming sector

Dell currently offers two desktop product lines. The lower tier (Inspiron), is meant for cost-conscious buyers, with entry prices as low as $379, while the upper tier (XPS), further bifurcates into XPS Performance/All-in-One and XPS Gaming PCs. Out of this group, only the XPS Gaming tier is being eliminated, and Dell apparently intends to continue using the XPS brand on mainstream desktops and higher-end laptops. As for the reason why Dell chose to eliminate its XPS gaming division, the numbers below paint a sobering picture.

I am asking the question of how stupid could they be, they will loose a bunch of customers because of this. Although most people don't release how hard the economy is hit with this recession but I will improve sooner or later!!

Dell Products Headed For Staples Retail Stores

In a break from Dell's traditional mail order biz, an agreement reached today with the Staples retail chain will bring Dell brand notebooks, desktops, monitors, printers, and ink to over 1400 Staples stores across the U.S. Initially Staples will carry Inspiron 1721 and 1521 notebooks, Inspiron 530 desktops, 948 and 926 All-in-one printers, the 1320c laser printer, the Dell SE198WFP 19-inch LCD, E228WFP 22-inch LCD, and most types of Dell brand ink and toner with more products to be added over time. A similar agreement was signed with Wal-Mart earlier this year, making this the second time Dell has partnered with a major US retailer and the first time it has scored a 3-way.[Staples via i4u]

I guess now I can go to Staples and buy a Dell if I wanted to!! I wonder if they are also going to be a support center for Dell?

All Macs all the Time

I would like to say I know where this is going and why! ;) I know people don't like Vista. So what else are we going to see I actually think Vista is going down the tubes. I think kids these days are wanting a stable and efficient OS so they are picking MacBooks and not Dells, Gateway, and All the other brands. I am hopeful something comes out of this before people get really annoyed with Microsoft.

New Linux Drivers From DELL

Linux users want two things for their hardware: drivers; and easy access to those drivers. The first is finally happening; and now, thanks to a Dell Linux project called DKMS (Dynamic Kernel Module Support), the other is on its way.
