Time Waner needs to get off it's DUFF!!

I was listening to Geek News Central, and he sent out an appeal for people to make a comment or blog about Time Warner and to talk about this Bandwitdth Cap they are testing!!

So here's my thoughts and concerns about this 40 Gigabyte for 55 dollars cap.

Let's say you have the basic service with broadband cable access. You use your broadband service for several things. Some of these things are VOIP(Voice Over Internet Protocol), Such as Skype or AIM , Download movies or Shows from Itunes store and watch shows also from Hulu or Fancast. Now Let's talk about the math of this.

If we are under this bandwidth cap, we call someone we would be watching our minutes and time talking to whoever we are talk to. If we want to download a movie from Itunes the shows for Itunes are on Average from Itunes around 500 megabytes per show and 700 megabytes for a movie. Now we know it could be bigger or smaller depending on the Graphical textures of the movie. If you want to get a movie in High Def, the download would be around 1.5 gigabytes of space. Now this alone doing the math would add up to 80 tv shows, 50 movies, 26 HD movies. Now if you didn't do anything else with your ISP you would of course be in good shape. Now let's not forget about the streaming TV shows and Movies you can watch from Hulu and Fancast. Now Hulu offers HD clips, they are talking about adding HD movies and other things. I use Hulu and Fancast as my primary way to watch shows legally and not have to worry about using Time Warner. I don't like the idea of having Time Warner try to push this on me so I'd figure I show you just how quickly you would use up the 40 Gigabytes of bandwidth.

Now the way I see it, I don't need Digital Cable, I get all my local cable through the Air and I watch what I want from these other media sources, I feel that I can get all my media through the Internet and decide what is proper to watch and not have to worry about Ratings on the digital cable. I know everything that is broad casted over the air is rated PG-13 and when my kids get old enough, I will not have to worry about that aspect of growing up.

Now what does that mean, I want everyone to Contact Time Warner, and make a statement saying they do not think this cap is fair or right!! You can also Call Time Warner at
212.484.8000 That is their Main HQ, and tell them directly that you are concerned about this Cap and that if they do this you'll find some where else to go. Make a Stand and sound out!!! This is a Campaign to make these Media companies know we have the right to decide what we want and when we want it, we don't have to have there media we can get our media as we want. If we don't do this, there will be no hope for us all!!!

Time Warner Bills for Bandwidth in Texas

This is one of those things that will effect us all. I am worried that the low-income families who need internet access will not be able to afford to pay for this type of bandwidth. Let's look at the article and see:

The company believes the billing system will impact only heavy users, who account for around 5 percent of all customers but typically use more than half of the total network bandwidth, according to a company spokesman.
What only 5 percent most people now a days are watching HULU and stuff that is IPTV like AppleTV and Itunes, even NetFlix Downloads(Which can be a big file download). That alone is more than 5 percent. More like 50 to 60 percent and will impact a lot of families. It is cheaper and faster and more reliable to do this then to watch it on Cable. I think Time Warner is definitely worried, I know I am. I would have to be charged to watch all my favorite TV Shows on the net. I think Time Warner should go IPTV and get it over with!! let's continue with this:

But the move could prove controversial. Unlike with utility bills such as the phone or electricity, which have traditionally been based on usage, U.S. high-speed Internet subscribers have come to expect a fixed monthly charge. An Internet bill typically only varies based on the speed of the consumer's Internet access.
Yes this is going to be controversial and very unlikely going to happen due to the fact that people will complain and complain, if we stand up for this we will win but if we don't we will lose. I know we've come to expect a price on internet but we shouldn't be forced to changed. If time warner does this most people will go to FIOS or other companies like FIOS TV. Just some things to consider when calling Time warner. I urge everyone to stand up and make a voice to Time Warner, and tell everyone you know about what Time Warner is doing. This right now is being done in small portion of Texas and I know they are not liking this. Let your voice be heard!! Thanks to Geek News Central for the heads up!!

CES-TPN2008-01-07_6 CES Show Stoppers Press Event

Rescued from another $15 cab ride by Dave in the rental car - we make it to the Showstoppers press event about a half hour late. This was at the Wynn, obviously in the same class as the Venetian or Bellagio. Probably the most productive interview environment that we've seen of any of the press events. And, we were one of FOUR video crews. This was assembly line turn and burn interviewing - and the adreneline was cranking. The last one of the evening ran out of tape ten seconds from the end. We re-recorded the last ten seconds - see if you can find the product interview that has the splice. Check out this Video from Andy!

CES-TPN2008-01-07_01 Breakfast at Venitian

The opening day of CES is the mob scene that will be reflected in the traffic, so Todd and Andy adopt a different strategy - based on trips that took over an hour on the bus in previous years. We leave at 7:00, eat at the Ventian and then walk through the casino to the Sands Convention Center.

Find Me Spot Satellite Messenger plus Global 911

Spot is a product you are going to want to keep your eyes on. This device allows you to communicate from anywhere in the world. Imagine you are in the Sahara and you want to leave a message to family and friends that you are ok.

Imagine that you are crossing the ocean alone and want someone to track you. Well Spot Satellite Messenger allows your position to be updated every 10 minutes and if you get in trouble Globall 911 is available.

The folks at FindMeSpot.com have contracted with a global rescue company that will come get you need help or give local authorities your location.

This device is what I consider a must for those that have para-gliders or any other sportsman or outdoor person that wants to be found, send a message, be rescued you name it. The price is so cheap no family that goes on a camping trip where cell coverage is not available needs one.

The unit cost 149.95 and a yearly fee of $99.95 check their company out at findmespot.com

CES-TPN-2008-01-05-6 Yoggie Security Systems Pentagon Level Security in a USB Stick

This is from the CES 2008. Todd Cochran, Interviews Yoggie Security Systems about there USB Security suite that protects your system and makes it Faster. Thanks Todd.
Yoggie Security Systems Pentagon Level Security in a USB Stick. What if I told you that you could remove all virus protection from your computer. Disable any firewals and replace all of that technology with a USB stick that would re-route your internet connection through the Gatekeeper Pico card and provide you the same level of protection.

Yoggie Security has a new device that they claim does just that. Their thought is you can remove all of the spyware, virus and firewall protection software and have a faster computer by protecting your computer with their USB
