WordPress 2.7 is available.

Having installed the latest update, I must say this new dashboard is quite good.  I love the new dashboard.  So lets take a quick look at what you can do:

wordpress27-dashClick Image to View it in full screen!!

After I installed it, this is what it was like.   I then decided to change it around to show you what it looks like now.  You have the option of changing the right row and also the windows to where you want.  Like this:

wordpress27-dash1Click Image to view it full screen.

As you can see you can change so much stuff on the dashboard it is like having your own very wordpress operating system on your system.   You can customize what you want where you want.   I like this new look.   I'd thought I show you the Wordpress 2.7 Dashboard and show just how nice this looks.   I want to hear everyone  thoughts on this new dashboard do you like it or hate it?

[ad#ad2-right]My Opinion is this is so nice and easy for the blogger and people who use the Podpress, it makes it even easier and quicker.  Oh and you can now use Google Gears to speed up the dashboard so you don't have to wait for the page to load.   You can also use it offline and post it online when you get a signal.  That is  my understanding of Google Gears although I've not tested that part out.  I am almost sure you could do that with Wordpress.

Preventing the Unthinkable!

Imagine yourself having been using Gmail and you go on lunch.  When you get back you try to log into your Gmail account, and it is locked?  Yesterday Chris Brogan His friend and colleague came back after lunch and his Gmail account was locked out.  So I want to talk about some ways to prevent the Unthinkable!

Yes, you too, could be locked out of your Gmail account and have no way to access your web services like friendfeed or other services like that. Unless you have your passwords stored someplace either in Firefox or IE.  That is so unsafe, letting Firefox or IE remember you passwords, check out one of my previous post about that!!  If you are locked out of your Gmail account and you don't remember the password.  What next?  Here is what I do.

I use Roboform and back that up nightly to an Amazon E3 Server.  I also make copies to a local spare Hard drive. Roboform comes with the best Syncing software and also a very powerful password generator. It encrypts your passwords until you enter your master password.

I was reading Todd Cochranes Article about this. I wanted to make a point on having your password safe and secure and easily accessible!! Todd Cohcrane is right about having a backup plan. I have always said in the past, backing up is very important.  Having a local application do your mission critical stuff is important.  So check out his article and check out Roboform.

Blog Offline with Google Gears at Blog.gears

Inspiration for great blog posts can be fleeting, but a lack of internet access can leave ideas in the dust. Webapp Blog.gears uses Google Gears to synchronize with a Blogger account to bridge that gap. Blog.gears allows Blogger authors to create new posts and edit older ones and synchronizes the data upon connection. The offline editor doesn't offer any of the rich text features as the online site, but it could work great for ideas you don't want to forget about later. Blog.gears requires a free Blogger account and Google Gears, and runs wherever Internet Explorer or Firefox do.

It's not bad if you have need to write stuff for the blog but I do hope they come up with ways to upload pictures and links and all that fun stuff that blogging has become!!
