Google Play Store revenues skyrocketing, a staggering 90% increase over last year’s first quarter

Today's latte, Google Play.

There is just no stopping for android. The revenues Google Play generated by Google Play are sky-rocketing. According to the research firms Google has  seen 90% increase in Google Play Store revenues compared t o the first quarter of the last year, now that is huge!

And the reason behind such a big leap in terms of revenue is the mass production of android devices around the world along with some of the idiosyncrasies of the Asian users. As the things are going for android the researcher and analysts believe that Google Play will catch up with Apple’s App Store somewhere around in 2016. According to the chief analyst at Canalys Adam Dam it would take android almost three to four years to get at par with the Apple’s App Store in terms of revenue. Android might be getting increase in the revenues at a faster pace but Apple’s App Store had a head start and that made all the difference.

Android might have gotten a 90% increase but if we look at the overall stats of the first quarter, there is no one near the share of App Store. In the first three months from January to March the app industry made total revenue $2.2 billion. Out of this $2.2 billion the almighty App Store accounted for $1.48 billion holding upto almost 74% of the total app revenue. When it comes to revenues apps certainly form the crux of overall profits.

Now coming to the downloads, the number of downloads made by Android and Apple users may vary depending on different researches. But one thing is for sure android’s downloads are quickly catching up to that of Apple’s or even exceeded it according to some other researches.

One of the key markets of android devices, not only android but also other smartphones, lies in countries such as Japan and South Korea where people mostly go for card and fantasy based apps. South Korea is considered to be the hub of smartphones where almost 80% of people own one. So making such fantasy based apps and card games really paid off for Android’s first quarter staggering augmentation in the revenues.

Let’s see what holds for Google’s little green mascot in the second quarter as it continues to grow bigger and better, forming into a phantom that looms over Apple.

Prediction: Amazon Video on Demand will come to Android!

The Kindle Fire!

As many of my readers know, I once made a prediction about the Kindle Fire and it really came true!  So I'm here today to give a few reasons why Amazon will eventually come to the Android Market Place in reguards to video on demand and their Amazon Prime Membership [Affiliate Link] benefit! Nothing I've say is always going to be true but it will be a very real possibility.

Amazon VOD is available on Apple!

Even though this is really new, Amazon recently announced that you can use their Video on Demand (VOD) on any Apple Product, such as the Ipad [Affiliate Link].  That isn't really a surprise in my book, I knew they would need to come to to the Apple Ipad but never knew when they would.   It was really something that was going to have to happen because of their need to grow.   They want people to sign up to their Prime Membership and thus people would want to be able to watch their shows and other such movies on a portable device such as an Ipad!

Kindle Fire sales Slow Down!

After their big launch of the Kindle Fire [Affiliate Link] last year, we are seeing sales of the Fire declining.  The Price point of the Kindle is far cheaper to buy than an Ipad and thus people are looking for a cheap alternative to view their movies and shows without paying for the high Priced Apple Ipad!  This isn't nothing new when it comes to competition.  So it makes only sense that Apple and Amazon will want to get the most market share for their products and show people that there is more than one way to stream or watch shows that you've bought.

Android's are getting more popular!

With Android Devices being activated and having over 700,000 people using their devices according to a report Dec 2011, we can only assume the number is growing every day or every hour.  As you can see we are seeing a growth in how many people have access to an Android device and thus it seems that we have no access on Android to have VOD from Amazon [Affiliate link].  We are seeing more and more devices that are going to be portable on Android in the near future and we already have a really nice portable device called the Nexus 7 [Affiliate Link], which I've heard is very popular because of it being light weight and very versatile!

Amazon Versus Netflix!

As Amazon competes with Netflix we are seeing that Amazon isn't on Android but Netflix is, thus if Amazon want to get people to use their service they will undoubtedly want to draw people away from Netflix and make it available every where.   I'm almost certain that Amazon is wanting to provide the best service available and thus will want to take over on the streaming front.  In order to do that, they will not be able to get ahead of Netflix until they capture some of the Android Users who don't have a Kindle Fire or who don't use the Apple Ipad!

These are just a few reasons why Amazon will be looking to be on all Android Devices in the coming few months.  I'm really not cerain as to when that will happen but I know it will be very soon and thus we only have to wait and be patient.

Contender countdown -- Android's VS Iphone's!

Android and iPhone

The email!

iPhone is better.

and

I must add to my last inquire. I have had the htc inspire and did like many features of the phone. But I had an iPhone 3 before I ha bought the inspire. Just knew more about the iPhone then I did the htc. That's why I like iPhone better. You do have a great site though.

[By A Mike Jones]

As you can tell I got a very interesting email a couple days ago and I thought I would talk about this.  Most of you know I have an HTC inspire and Love it but I'm sure some of you probably have your own reasons.  I am going to talk about my reasons and some very good points.

Reason why Android Rule!

If your have ever played on an Iphone you have probably saw how limited you are with the Operating system then how easy the Android Operating System is.   I have heard from people saying that there's no viruses on Iphones, which is simply not true!  Although, I also know Android's aren't immune either but that doesn't stop at them either.   When there was only one Operating system like Windows, then you had to worry about viruses since the day we started having a Operating System.     You can see the comparison chart that Amazon.com has done over the Iphone, Android, and Windows Phones [Affiliate Link].

Iphones Suck!

You heard me right.   I have never liked the idea of an Iphone and since the Ipad [Affiliate Link] started to come out.   I'm just glad Google Nexus 7 [Affiliate Link] is coming in July!  Even though the biggest fault Apple has had is that when they first started the advertising they boosted about not getting a virus but that turned out to not be true!  Some of the others things I do not like about the Iphone is the Proprietary information that they have over the Software and hardware.  I for one think that an Open Source operating system is much more likely to keep secured than an closed source Operating system.  I know I'm not the only one but it sure beats the idea that you can have security by keeping secrets.

No Operating System is perfect!

That being said for me, it is far easier to operating the Android operating System than it is to navigate and get your App approved by Apple.  You can get your app approved easier on Android than Apple because of their strict rules and regulations.   I'm not saying that it will ever be perfect, from from that idea but it shouldn't take months to years to get your App on the Apple Marketplace.  Have you ever wondered just how hard it is to actually do that on Apple?  I'm sure it isn't a easy as you think or for that matter what I think.

Who Wins?

I'm going to ask you the reader, which one you like and what for.  Don't tell me the Iphone and not give me any details.  I'm quite curious as to why and your reasons behind that.  You after all may make me change my mind.  If you think you can, then please feel free to comment and let me know.
