How to Watch Internet TV on your TV : The Cheap Way!!

As many of you know, I am a great fan of Hulu.   Recently I went searching to find out how to watch Hulu without having to buy NETGEAR Digital Entertainer Live (Black) and Paying a monthly service.  So Here's is what you need to watch it on your TV.

What you will need:

Video
S-Video Cables -- If you plan to use S-video in then this is what you will need.  The good thing about this is most Laptops have S-Video Out.   Although this isn't always the case this is how I watch Hulu on TV.

VGA to S-Video -- Some laptops only have VGA you will be able to tell by the look of the connection but if you have this tool you can convert any VGA connection to S-video easily.

Philips 3-Way AV Selector For $9.88 --This is the cheap way for those who can only connect coaxial cable inputs.   This is what you will need to use on Older TV's.

Audio

2 RCA Male / 3.5mm Stereo Male, 25 ft -- This is for the head phone jack that you will have on your laptop pipe your audio from you laptop to the TV screen. Depending on the length of the S-Video cable will also determine the Length of the the Audio cable. So you will need to look around for a 25 foot S-video cable just so you have the room.

In Conclusion

This is one wHuluqualitysettingsay to connect mulitple video outlets like VCR or HD Over the air converters.  So it isn't a bad way to go to make this happen.   I did buy each of these to be able to watch shows on my TV through the internet.   Now you can too.  If you need internet for you laptop, I have been using the [intlink id="3059" type="post"]Cricket Broadband A600[/intlink] to stream Hulu to my TV.   This is so nice with Hulu Desktop.  As long as you put the quality of the stream to Low and not Medium the modem seems to be able to keep up. Now if you click on the quality you will be able to select Low, Medium or High Quality this is how you can stream over lower bandwidth limitations.

Now all this shouldn't cost you more than $30 without shipping and if you look around your local Radio Shack or Walmart you will be able find all you need there. This is how I did it myself. Now I can watch want I want on my 30 Inch Big Screen. I just put my Laptop on the Coffee Table and enjoy the shows.

If your looking to upgrade or buy a laptop, I would suggest looking into the Amazon Laptop Store. This is for those who would like to be able to do this in the future.   Although you don't have to buy from Amazon it is just an Idea or you could buy Hulu. Recently I went searching to find out how to watch Hulu without having to buy NETGEAR Digital Entertainer Live (Black)and paying for a monthly services to watch Hulu on your TV. I prefer using my Roku to watch movies and shows. It is cheaper than the Vodu. Although you don't get Hulu, you can watch movies and shows from Netflix and Amazon Video on Demand!

Podcasters are in up in arms over Ustream.tv

REVISED:

[ad#digg-right]Podcasters and LifeCasters alike are not so happy with Ustream.tv right now. They have started to introduce there own ads overlay to where the lifecaster or podcast involved doesn't get any revenue. One such Podcast right now is Mike Smith, Host of the Miketechshow Podcast, and Also Todd Cochrane, Host of Geeknewscentral.  In a Recent post from Todd, he stated he is going to leave Ustream.tv.

[ad#ad2-right]Mike Smith in his last Podcast talked about this subject and why he is really unhappy with Ustream.tv.  He says that the ads could possible violate his TOS with Techpodcast Network.  He also would like to share the revenue because he was one of the founding podcasters that started to use Ustream.tv.   He's worried that there will be adult theme ads showing on his video stream and that He wants this to be family friendly.  He's said before the show if he has to he'll go to other networks.   Some of the networks that might help him out:

Ustream.tv is the one Mike is having problems with but I tell you this in case someone is looking for streaming media platform.   These others I've checked out are decent and have there own look and feel.  Each one has its own personality and server capabilities.   So it will be a test on the next platform that Mike decides on!  I provide these to better help people make the right choice and also let people know about Ustream.tv Not telling you about the ads. If you think they shouldn't be doing this, talk about it and Blog about.

Vista TV Ads Leave me Confused!

Bill Gates and Vista Ad:

[ad]

So I've just got done watching this.  I wanted to point to show people this ad and ask people what the heck are they trying to do.  Is this like an epic AD start off where they have to meet each other first?  I don't see any real relevance to Vista other than the end of the Commercial!  If I was Bill Gates I'd want to have a really good writer making sure there is some kind of relevance to Vista.  I can only hope they get better over time.  If they keep these this type of acting, these ads won't get anyone to buy Vista let alone Windows!!

Hulu Brings on Paramount Movies!

As you can see Paramount has been seen at Hulu.  I thought I would talk about some movies that I could be coming to Hulu.  So let's talk about some of them shall we.  I can see so many good movies:

[ad]

  • Paycheck -- What seemed like a breezy idea for an engineer to net him millions of dollars, leaves him on the run for his life and piecing together why he's being chased. full summary | full synopsis

  • The Saint -- Simon Templar has no real family, no real home and Simon Templar isn't even his real name. Yet Simon Templar ... more | full synopsis

  • Ghost -- After being killed during a botched mugging, a man's love for his partner enables him to remain on earth as a ghost. full summary

[ad]

So these are just a few that I looked up and can see them possibly coming to hulu in the next few weeks to months.  I am willing to bet most of the shows I've mention will come because they are the most adored by the public and others.  I will be doing even more searching later on!!!  I also think they will bring Star Trek : The Motion Picture but that is almost a given. I expect them to bring most of the Trek movies to Hulu being they have a lot of science fiction viewers.  If you have any ideas of what movies will come to Hulu by all means make a comment and talk about it.

George Lucas plans 'Star Wars' TV series

LOS ANGELES - The Force may soon be coming to a television near you. George Lucas is planning a live-action television series spinoff of the "Star Wars" film franchise. Lucas told The Los Angeles Times he has "just begun work" on the series, which will not include the films' major characters Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader.

"The Skywalkers aren't in it, and it's about minor characters," Lucas told the Times on Tuesday.

Lucas wouldn't reveal details, but joked that the series would be about "the life of robots."

Lucas, 63, already has another television series in the works. Lucasfilm Animation has been working for months on the computer-animated "Star Wars: The Clone Wars."

Man I love Star wars and thought others would like to know this too!! ;)
