Each one of these sites have something they want to try to get you to do. Some try to fool you into installing software to "Scan" for virus but in reality you are just installing a Trojan. Others like to try to scam you into buying there fake product so they can make money off of you. In reality this software does nothing to provide any virus protection. Sometimes they even use exploits to install onto the system. These usually have Pop ups or warnings saying you have a virus. There might be even a Web browser re director to the site in question. You should never download or install software from an Unknown source. Also you should never buy any product without asking questions.

List of Rogue Antivirus sites August 4, 2009

personalantivirus3

Looks like they have more Fake Antivirus sites up and running so I thought I would pass them along:

  • basicsystemscanner.com ([intlink id="3607" type="post"]Personal Antivirus Scareware[/intlink])

  • checkmypcantivirus.com ([intlink id="3607" type="post"]Personal Antivirus Scareware[/intlink])

  • onlineproantivirusscanner.com ([intlink id="3607" type="post"]Personal Antivirus Scareware[/intlink])

  • online-pro-antivirus-scan.com ([intlink id="3607" type="post"]Personal Antivirus Scareware[/intlink])

  • secure-pro.cn (Fake Windows Security Messages)

  • bodyscanguide.com (Fake Windows Security Messages)

  • bestsecuredpcs.com (Fake Windows Security Messages)

  • somesecuritypc.com (Rogue Exploit Antivirus Scanner)

  • scanwebtech.com (Rogue Exploit Antivirus Scanner)

  • bisquva.cn (Rogue Antivirus)

  • pc-anti-spyware-20-10.com (Like [intlink id="3977" type="post"]Home Antivirus 2010[/intlink])

  • pcantispyware2010.com(Like [intlink id="3977" type="post"]Home Antivirus 2010[/intlink])

  • spywaredisplay.com (Rogue AntiSpyware)

  • spywaremonitoring.com (Rogue AntiSpyware)

  • spywareremovalhelp.net (Rogue AntiSpyware)

  • antispywarefile.com (Rogue AntiSpyware)

These sites try to get you to install software or get you to buy pay for some fake software.   If you keep getting popups from these guys then you have some kind Trojan acting like it is a real Antivirus or Antispyware.  I recommend getting rid of those annoying little warnings and redirects.   Some of these are actually Web Browser redirects, others try to scare you into downloading or buying their product.   You should never download or buy anything from a site you don't know anything about.

Some common tricks are Popups, warnings, Toolbar shield, and also a fake web page scanning screen.

Scareware List for July 31, 2009

Antivirussystempro1

Looks like they went out and made a quite a few domains lately so Here they are:

  • antivirus-live-pro.org ([intlink id="1837" type="post"]Antivirus Pro Scareware[/intlink])

  • internetantivirusplus.com (Fake Antivirus)

  • mybestantivirusplus.com

  • securesoftwarebill.com (Rogue System Security Antivirus)

  • yourantimalware.com

  • totalsurfguard.com

  • systemsecuritysupport.com

  • stabilitysuite.com

  • onlinecentersupport.net

  • identitysecuritysuite.com

  • etotalsecurity.com

  • defenseinteractive.com

  • defenseinteractive.com

  • antispyinteractive.com

  • antispyavailable.com

  • protectionsystem.org(Like [intlink id="1837" type="post"]Antivirus Pro Scareware[/intlink])

  • realbestantivirusplus.com

Remember these sites are active and are scaring people into buying or installing there product, you should not go to these sites. As you can see the Scareware Writers and domains have been busy this week and have made these to use in this weekend I can bet on that.   These sites are trying to [intlink id="3607" type="post"]scare you into buying there product or installing there fake antivirus software[/intlink].    If you are constantly inundated with pop up windows warning you have a virus or trojan and showing you a load of viruses or trojans on your screen. They will probably ask you to install software or buy the product that would be a big waste of time and could possibly install even more malware and also could loose money. You should never download any software from sites you don't know or buy from sites that you've never heard from.

Malware sites for July 30, 2009

I just got some news about a few sites:

personalantivirus3

  • husger.info (Scareware, Rogue Antivirus)

  • antivirus-quickscanv5.com ([intlink id="3607" type="post"]Personal Antivirus[/intlink])

  • safe-online-scanner.com ([intlink id="3607" type="post"]Personal Antivirus[/intlink])

These sites are either claiming you have a virus and are considered either URL Redirects or URL Hijackers.   If these sites keep appearing on your web browsing maybe it is time to do a complete system scan and get that spyware off your system.   Some of these Rogue Antiviruses  may even have a security adviser claiming random sites are infected with viruses or Trojans and claiming they are unsafe.  These sites are either wanting you to isntall the software or trying to sell you the fake product, which will do nothing but harm your system.

  • tb2car.com

  • rundaqimao.com

  • shuncheng2car.com

  • dakbesy.cn

All these sites are scaring users into installing software that does nothing but bothers the users into registering this software. Computer Security : important caveat not all websites are safe

Everyday we've seen people get infections on there systems and most don't understand that they've been duped and have installed the software themselves.

In this article we will talk about how most people will willingly install these Trojans and virus themselves for several different reasons.

ineluctable truth about Human Nature

These malware authors know all about how people think.    It usually happens when people think they are seeing something provocative and something you can watch in your private homes.   There are several different ways to do this:

  • News stories --  Alas this is always being used to spread malware.   For example Erin Andrews Peephole malware.

  • Fake photos files -- This is also a very common ploy, to make people think it is a Photo but in reality it is an Executable.  Example : MichealJackson.JPG.EXE

  • Fake Codecs -- You visit what you think is a popular movie and it says you need to install a codec.  This is another way for people to get infected with a Trojan, or a Virus.   For example : [intlink id="3739" type="post"]Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince malware[/intlink].

  • Fake PDF's --  There have been known exploits in the Adobe Reader and Adobe where a malware author can take control over the pc and install whatever they want into the system.  Example : Attackers Target New Adobe Flash/Reader Flaw

As you can see these are just a few but have been used in the past so it doesn't mean they won't be used in the future.   The Malware authors will also use Social sites to infect your pc, Here are a few common ones:

  • You get a message that states "[intlink id="3662" type="post"]Look at this[/intlink]" Most of the twitter users were very curious and had not seen alot of malware on twitter and was very trusting, so they would willingly go to these sites not expecting to get a trojan or virus.

  • You get a message in face book "You look just awesome in this video."  You try to go to the URL and it says You have to update your flash player.   This is another common way to get the user to install a trojan or virus and think it is a legitimate update.

  • Twitter Spambots --  You get a message about a Registry cleaner but it is a rogue Antivurs.  You down load this software and without thinking run it and your infected.   Twitter and facebook users are to relax to see just how dangerous links can be.

Most or all can be used as email also so you don't have to be on any site to recieved an attached file with something similar to that you see up there.   You must never download anything you know nothing about and if in doubt scan it with several virus scanners by uploading it to Virustotal that is a good site to see if some well known vendors consider this program or file to be a virus. These were just a few, I am sure I have missed several and will probably hear about this from the users. I encourage people to discuss this and talk about other ways this can happen.

List of fake Antivirus Sites for July 27, 2009

I have found some other sites that are fake Antivirus:

personalantivirus3

  • anti-malware-pro.com (Rouge AntiMalware Software)

  • allowsecurityshield.com ([intlink id="3713" type="post"]Scareware site[/intlink])

  • securedvirusproscanner.com ([intlink id="3607" type="post"]Personal Antivirus[/intlink])

  • antivirus-best-scannerv2.com ([intlink id="3607" type="post"]Personal Antivirus[/intlink])

Most of these sites try to scare you into either installing software or buying their fake software.   Some of these sites have used exploits to install a Trojan or two to have your browser redirect to these sites.   This means that there might be more than one virus or Trojan on your system

List of Malware sites for July 25, 2009

Antivirussystempro1

All Of these sites listed below are active and should not be visited:

  • folder-antivirus-scanv1.com

  • systemsecuritycenter.com

  • sheltercloud.cn (Now Redirecting to Adult Friend Finder)

  • searchav.net (Now Redirecting to Adult Friend Finder)

  • strelyk.info

  • gagtemple.info

These sites listed try to get you to download a program sometimes called install.exe, Setup.exe, and are most likely just a way to get you even more infected with malware.  Other sites want to you upgrade which means you probably have some kinda of malware on your system to begin with.   These sites are what I call [intlink id="3805" type="post"]scareware[/intlink] and will always try to scare you into either buying or installing software.   These sites don't do anything else but try to make money or get your system infected for them to use.  A couple of these sites require you to quit out of your browser by going to your Taskmanager.   These fake antivirus softwares don't really protect your system at all but only to annoy the end user into giving these guys a free ride. Two of the sites are now redirecting to Adult Friend Finder, but still should be avoided because of the possibility of an exploit code trying to take over you computer.

I call these sites Scareware because there is usually some warning or popup saying you have a virus or a trojan, or even saying something like system alert. You will usually see something like a shield or eve times when the Rogue Antivirus will load up there fake page.  Be sure to check out some of my [intlink id="2205" type="page"]Antivirus[/intlink] Suggestions and decide for yourself.

Remember these fake sites only thrive when you let them.

More Personal Antivirus Fake or Scareware Sites

As I am Looking through some sites I find out about:
personalantivirus3

As you know [intlink id="3607" type="post"]Personal Antivirus is Scareware[/intlink] and is not a real [intlink id="2205" type="page"]Antivirus Software[/intlink] like the ones I have on my website.  This tries to scare you into buying there fake software then does nothing to protect the user.

The Following Sites have been identified to be Associated with Personal Antivirus:

  • totalvirusscanc3.com

  • antivirusbestscanv5.com

  • liveantivirusinfov2.com

  • proantispywarescanv3.com

And All of these are ready to be used and probably will be used in the next coming weeks.  If you feel you have one of these scarewares on your computer I recommend downloading SUPERAntiSpyware and remove this this scareware from you system..

RECOMMENDATION : [ad#SUPERAntiSpyware]

Remember these are online and you shouldn't go these sites because of the possibility that they will redirect you to the a Trojan or Malware URL.  You best bet is to stay clear of them.

Fighting 'Scareware' One List at a time

Techworld has published an article that describes how the AV Vendors are compiling a Whitelist of AV Vendors who are really trying to keep there users safe and not trying to '[intlink id="3805" type="post"]Scare[/intlink]' the user into buying a rogue look a like.  They've published a Preliminary set of real Antivirus Softwares along with there Company:

CCSSParticpiation

As you can see there are at least to that are not listed.  I've contacted [intlink id="3884" type="post"]SUPERAntiSpyware[/intlink] about this and they turned right around and started to ask to be added and should be Added in the coming months.   The other is [intlink id="3851" type="post"]Malwarebytes[/intlink] and I am hoping they jump aboard and get in contact with this forum.

The Guys over at [intlink id="3884" type="post"]SUPERAntiSpyware[/intlink] were really grateful that I came across this.   This list will soon help fight the [intlink id="3918" type="post"]SCAREWARE Tactics[/intlink] of the Cyber Criminals.   Truth of the matter is educating oneself and doing a little bit of research can help you determine if the program or company is real or just another rogue company out there.   If your looking for some good Antivirus Software check out my [intlink id="2205" type="page"]Antivirus Page[/intlink] and see some of the FREE Antivirus Software out there that can help protect your system.

Another Scareware Adviser Site : browsersecurityinfo.com

It looks like "[intlink id="3607" type="post"]Personal Antivirus[/intlink]" Scareware has [intlink id="3872" type="post"]another Scareware adviser[/intlink] on the same iP: "83.133.123.113"

browsersecurityinfocom1

[ad]It is Hosted on "http://browsersecurityinfo.com/" and Does the same thing the [intlink id="3872" type="post"]other Scareware Adviser[/intlink] does and sponsors "http://ieprotectionlist.com/1/"  Which is also [intlink id="3607" type="post"]Personal Antivirus Scareware site[/intlink] that is host to a few dozen places on other sites.

These Sites try to look like legitimate sites and make you believe these are real but My Advise is that you [intlink id="3884" type="post"]run SUPERAntiSpyware[/intlink] and Remove these scareware virus and other Trojans on your system.  These do nothing but slow your system down and stop you from using the system.  Some of these Fake Antiviruses have also been known to [intlink id="3876" type="post"]not allow you to use real antivirus software[/intlink] so you may have to do it from safe mode.

If you need help removing these spyware manually you can check this article to remove it manually.   Please check out my [intlink id="2205" type="page"]Malware resources[/intlink] to better help you protect your system in the future.   I have a few recommendations on my [intlink id="2205" type="page"]Malware resources[/intlink] to help remove these viruses, trojans, and Malware off your system.

Antispy.microsoft.com is another Scareware

It looks like the people who invented "[intlink id="3805" type="post"]Antivirus System Pro[/intlink]" have made another site looking like it was a Microsoft site:

Antivirussystempro1

It looks like they use hijack your host file and inseart "Antispy.Microsoft.com" to the host file  with the IP address of "209.44.111.62"  There is no real website at Microsoft with that url so if you get this you have a some kind of trojan or virus on your system.   By using the domain name of Microsoft.com the chance that people will believe this is actually from Microsoft and buy this fake software is higher than with it having its own domain.

[ad]They seem to have incorporated the [intlink id="3872" type="post"]Site Adviser Scareware tactics[/intlink] these tactics seem to be a new way for them to look Official almost like they are the read deal and should there for be taken for the REAL Thing.   You should [intlink id="3884" type="post"]Download SUPERAntiSpyware[/intlink] and See if you can find the problem.   If that doesn't work you can always remove this threat manually.

This has the same ideas as the "ITsecure.Microsoft.com" Malware, they both look like they are from Microsoft and have modified the host file but are really Scareware trying to trick you into buying there fake antivirus and you would be loosing money.   I would recommend you checkout my [intlink id="2205" type="page"]Malware resources[/intlink] and find out what I recommend to prevent this from the future.
